Eliza felt almost calm shopping with Rafe. He pushed the cart and got all of the things on the top shelves—even though she was more than happy to stand on her tiptoes to get them.
“Are you okay?” he asked her.
She could see his eyes were intense, even though his sunglasses shaded them.
“Of course,” she said, shrugging and looking up at him.
He pulled her close to him, and Eliza buried her head in his chest. Their reflection in the glass of both of them in jeans and t-shirts which was basic, looked like a glossy magazine ad.
Eliza was on her tiptoes to kiss Rafe, who pulled her so close to him that he took her breath away.
They parted softly, but not before Rafe took her hand and kissed it. Eliza felt suffused with heat to her toes, as he kissed her hand and her wrist. He kept her hand in his, with the combination of affection and possession that he patented.
Eliza felt safe with Rafe, it was something she always felt with him and why she knew that she was going to marry him. tThey had been together for so long that they moved like one body.
She could have this excursion as the happy fiancee, when she had just been in their bed sweating as if she had a fever.
And she did have a fever.
A fever called Terrence, which made her core burn like self-inflicted arson.

First Nichy, now this chick? Are any of your heroine’s destined to be satisfied with the one they’ve got? 🙂
Eliza and Rafe seem to be more solid than I expected from the past episodes 🙂
