On the Advent

On the advent of the birth of her daughter, Eliza did ponder if it was not fair that Rafe and Oscar were both there in the delivery room with special permission because both men were so important to her and wanted to be there. But looking at Bibi–her baby girl–she was so happy to have her daughter’s life have started surrounded with so much love around her.

Rafe was a wonderful father, he adored Bibi and Eliza. There was a picture of the two of them holding their tiny daughter, and the love between all of them was massive.

Oscar saw Bibi right after the birth, and he was respectful but he came to see her shortly after Eliza had settled into her routine. He looked at her with awe and adoration. He held Bibi, and he looked at Eliza as she walked toward them. His eyes on her made her feel sensitive, as having the baby had. She did not realize that she would have felt so much after she gave birth. Physically and emotionally she was spent.

“How are you?” Oscar asked her, and she smiled despite herself.

“Happy to be Bibi’s mom, but I am tired all of the time and feel dumpy.”

“You look beautiful…” Oscar said holding the cooing baby closer to him, and watched Eliza with the same warmth and desire that he always looked at her with. It made her feel a warmth she had not really felt since she had the baby that often. Being a new mother did not necessarily make her feel like the sexiest woman in the world. But after twelve weeks she was starting to feel something like a woman again, even though she had not had sex since before Bibi was born.

Oscar got up and towering over her, he put the sleeping Bibi in her crib and cornered Eliza whose robe had slipped open and she did not care to fix it.

“She’s beautiful Eliza, and there is no chance that she is mine is there?”

Eliza stared at him, and she was not sure what to say.
