Guest Blogger Mischa Eliot Kneads Out Our Kinks!

This is the second time that my friend and fellow Sister in Smut has graced my blog. The first time was finger licking good! Following the edible theme, here is an excerpt from her delectable novella, Knead…yum…

I wrote Knead while taking Rachel Kramer Bussel’s last Between the Sheets class at LitReactor. Thank the heavens for Dr. J. If she hadn’t told me it was her last class, I’d have waited for the next one. It was not only worth the money and the time, it was the best writing class focused on erotica that I’ve taken. Oh wait, it’s the only class focused on erotica that I’ve taken. But if you’re going to take a class, it’s best to go with the best of the best – the cream of the crop – the icing on the cupcake.
Speaking of cupcakes, our first assignment was to write an erotic short about food. I have a coworker who makes homemade pizza and knows that I write smut. It’s fun and interesting having people know your secret life. When I came to him and started randomly asking questions about making pizza he lit up. Who doesn’t want to talk about something their passionate about? Listening to him brought this story to life.
It was funny because he didn’t realize why and then he asked and things just went smutty from there. All the comments about sausage and pepperoni and who knows what else. Let’s just say, it made my day and made Knead one of my most fun writing projects.

Knead Excerpt:

The taste of peach tea and honey and Zane exploded on my tongue. I didn’t want to stop kissing him, but in order to undress, we had to do just that. “God, I’ve wanted you since the first time I saw you.” Tank tops went flying, my bra vanished somehow. But, his words stuck in my brain.
“You mean when you moved in?” I unbuckled his belt and then focused on the button and zipper. I wanted him naked in front of me now. Zane’s hands were following my lead and he had my shorts off before I had his jeans to his ankles.
“No, back in high school. You were writing in a notebook at lunch. I read a little of what you were writing before you slapped the notebook shut. It was fucking sexy as hell.” He pushed me up against the wall and kissed me hard, nipping my lips and tongue with his teeth.
Thrill zinged up and down throughout my synapses. This man, who I thought had never noticed me when we were young and dumb, had the hots for me when I was shy and geeky. Before I could say anything, he bent down and flicked his tongue against my nipple. I sunk my hands into his hair and pulled him tighter to me.
Instead of taking me right then and there, Zane pulled away. “I should start the shower.” He was panting and his eyes glowed with need, pupils dilated with his intensity. Turning, he turned the handle and water shot out. My insides felt like the drops of water when they hit the tub, bouncing and splashing, full of chaotic energy.
Zane stepped out of his jeans and into the spray. “Do you have any idea how many nights I lay away wondering what you’re typing over there? Your desk is against the same wall as my bed. Sometimes, you type so loud and fast, it’s like you’re in a frenzy.” His words bounced around inside my mind while I watched the warm water soak his hair and skin.
Swallowing hard, I took in his words and the way he looked all wet. It was better than I could ever imagine. “Well, when I’m in a frenzy like that, it’s because I could hear you watching porn through the wall and I kept picturing you stroking yourself until you covered yourself in come.” There was no stopping the words once they started. I had never thought to find a guy who could handle my perverted mind. Every guy I had tried to have a relationship with in the past had been disgusted with the stories I wrote.
Standing in front of me was a man who wanted to know more about me, about what I wrote, about my desires. Zane turned and leaned his head back under the showerhead. “What do you think, Adrienne? Would I make a good story like this?” I watched as he slid his hands down his immaculate body, tweaking his nipples, his cock hanging heavy and hard.

The Big Day is Here–Happy Erotic World Book Day!!!

On this inaugural Erotic World Book Day (EWDB), the concept alone makes me happy because of all the random celebratory days that pop up all of the time. Erotica deserved one! I am an editor and writer of erotica, but the bridge to that was being a reader of it.

As a young girl in a house filled with readers, I was exposed to all sorts of books…which I always sought the erotic bits of! I was always in search of erotic novels and at this point, needed more of an edge than your average reader. I love erotic tension as well, it doesn’t always have to be explicit for me. There is a scene in Asylum by Patrick McGrath which is one of my favorite books, that makes me breathless and does not involve sex at all. But such a level of intimacy is explored in that scene, it is breathtaking. I love the exploration of raw emotion, and there really can be nothing rawer than what you encounter in an erotic scene. Everything is stripped away–literally most times–and you have to deal with that moment. I love the line in Simone de Beauvoir’s The Mandarins, in which a character after making love, says that the only way to really know a man is to make love to him. I am paraphrasing, but that was such an astute observation to me.

That in a nutshell is why I love erotica, and it makes me happy that the genre is being celebrated in such large scale today. This brain child of Emily Dubberley, has caused such an amazing buzz within the erotica community. The best part is EWDB celebrates erotica as a genre in a myriad of ways including an anthology, the proceeds of which will support Brook and you are invited to donate to Brook if you wish. There are also a plethora of prizes for you to win all day in celebration of EWDB. I have contributed a copy of my upcoming anthology Tie Me Up, which is being released by Riverdale Avenue Books on March 18th!

So please go to the site! There are so many ways to celebrate and contribute…have a very happy Erotic World Book Day!!!

Psst…

I find myself inevitably walking into an independent bookstore, pushing usually a bell to let them know someone is entering and asking after a brief twirl around,”Do you have an erotica section?”
This question gets three responses usually, first, being an indignant “no.” Second, is a smile (accompanied with the unsaid you naughty girl) “no.” The third, is a you naughty girl look followed by “yes.” I love that answer, but when I get to the section it is just all sex books. If I am lucky there are either copies of Anaïs Nin’s Little Birds or Delta of Venus, Pauline Reage’s Story of O (all of which I own) or some erotica novel I have read before (and probably did not like).
What made me irate the last time I asked aside from being told no, was that I had to ask. Although I was indignant when told there was no copy of Fifty Shades of Gray, I just wondered why do I have to ask? As the genre has become more in demand, why is it still optional to have an erotica section? It’s not like there are a lack of readers, it really offends me at this point to have to ask. Of course I have a particular talent for finding the naughtier, seamier books…I know what I desire in books, the same way I know what I desire in a man. That insatiable have to have that now feeling strikes me quickly. If I have to search harder for the type of book I want it is kind of fun as well, but why should I have to tap into my inner sleuth to find a book to read?
I understand that the double standard remains. People are completely fine with graphic violence, but graphic sex is a no-no. To see two (or more) people engaging in sexual activity is galling. Last time I checked, I would rather engage in sexual activity, than be beaten but maybe that is just me. Why are we so afraid of something people like to do, and need to do to maintain the species?! I cannot understand it, yet I remain humbled whispering to a bookstore employee: “Psst–do you have an erotica section?”
