Wicked Wednesday #209 –Opportunities

Eliza loved every opportunity she had to be with Oscar, and she had to admit, she loved going to the bar and seeing Josephine. Even with all that was going on with Fiona and Alice, she really liked Josephine. She had left work a bit early, so she could chat with Josephine for awhile before Oscar arrived.Josephine looked at her like the kitten who got the cream, and Eliza smiled softly to herself. She knew that Josephine must have gotten lucky.

She was in awe of Josephine. Besides being gorgeous and well-read, she was constantly being hit on by men and woman alike. She had infinite opportunities to get laid–well at least half of infinity because she preferred women. There was always a pretty woman with her eye on her, and if Josephine wanted she would leave with her.

“You went home with someone!” Eliza grinned, as her friend pressed her usual Laphroaig into her hand with thinly shaved orange rinds.

Josephine looked at her, kitten licking cream grin still on her face.

“I never kiss and tell…” Josephine let her voice trail, saccharine and ironic.

“Is that new?” Eliza answered, sipping her scotch.

“I cannot tell you honey,” Josephine said, caressing her hand.

“Alice again?”

Eliza saw Josephine shake her head out of the corner of her eye.

“Someone new?”

Josephine nodded.

“Tell me…”

They studied each other. Eliza tilted her head to one side, as if to invite Josephine to tell her who she was with. Josephine took a deep breath.

“Alice’s girlfriend came onto me…”

“Fiona?!”

Josephine nodded.

“You slept with sister-in-law?”

“You’re not married yet!”

“She is my sister-in-law regardless! You took her home?”

“She wanted to know what Alice saw in me, and she is beautiful. It was nice…”

“Nice to fuck my sister-in-law? She is so fragile, you cannot imagine….”

“I can, I fucked her. I know things about her that you cannot know…”

“You know her so well now?!”

Josephine nodded.

“I fucked her of course I know her now…” Josephine studied her before she went on. “I had an opportunity to go home with a gorgeous artist, who is the girlfriend of a girl I was with…I could not resist…”

Before Eliza could say anything, Fiona walked into the bar. Josephine grinned, and kissed Fiona’s lips as if they were cream. Eliza wanted to look away, but she was transfixed by seeing this expression of emotion between two women she was so close to. It was an opportunity to see them as she never had.

And she hoped that it would be a good thing.

Fiona turned to stare at Eliza,

“You told her?” she asked Josephine, without moving her eyes from Fiona.

“Yes, she did.” Eliza answered, and got up to go to the bathroom before Fiona had an opportunity to say more. “Tell Oscar I am in the loo…” Eliza let her voice trail, and walked to the soothing, claustrophobic feeling bathroom.

It was not her business…

I am dedicated to using all the verbs from the verb list created by Richard Serra—you can find the list here. Last time I used “crumple,” today I am using “shaved.”
